Chair of the Radio New Zealand Board of Governors

Richard Griffin was appointed to the board as a governor in May 2010. He has an extensive career in print media, radio, television and public relations. A past Radio New Zealand Political Editor and a life member of the Parliamentary Press Gallery, he served as Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to Prime Minister, Jim Bolger from 1993 until 1998. He was Manager of Policy Development, Government Relations and Communications for TVNZ from 2000 to 2007. Mr Griffin is a director of the public relations consultancy, Fraser, Griffin, Wood.

Deputy Chair of the Radio New Zealand Board of Governors

Jane Taylor is a professional director, with a strong background in both law and finance. Her current governance appointments include Chair of New Zealand Post Limited, Landcare Research New Zealand Limited and Predator Free 2050 Limited,  and a director of Silver Fern Farms Limited, Silver Fern Farms Co-operative Limited, Kiwibank Limited and OTPP New Zealand Forest Investments Limited. Jane is also a board member of the External Reporting Board (XRB).
 
Former directorships include Forestry Corporation of New Zealand Limited, Hirepool Group Limited, Heartland NZ Limited, GNS Science Limited and Research and Education Advanced Network Limited. Jane was awarded the Otago Daily Times Business Leader of the Year for 2016.
 
Jane holds an LLB(Hons) and LLM with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland, a postgraduate qualification in accountancy and finance from Victoria University of Wellington and a BForSc (Hons) from the University of Canterbury. She is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand, a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand, a member of the New Zealand Law Society and a member of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand. Jane is also certified as an Independent Hearings Commissioner (Chair endorsement) under the Resource Management Act 1991.

Ms Taylor is currently Chair of Landcare Research New Zealand and a director of Silver Fern Farms and OTPP New Zealand Forest Investments.

Rodger Finlay has more than 30 years' experience in the financial services industry including senior investment banking and funds management positions with major institutions, specialising in the global natural resource sectors. Rodger has a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Otago. He is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors.

Bill Francis has spent an extensive career in broadcasting, including 17 years as the General Manger of Talk for the Radio Network. He more recently was Chief Executive of the Radio Broadcasters Association.

He has had a long association with sport including being a director of both Auckland Cricket and New Zealand Cricket.

He is the author of ten books including two on radio.

Melissa has 25 years' experience as an entrepreneur and in the business startup community.  She has been a CEO of a number of technology companies, and is on the boards of government agencies as well as high growth technology companies. 

Her background includes online, TV and computer gaming. She works as a digital strategist, and mentors widely in the international startup community.

Graham is an accountant, media and business consultant and director. He is currently contracted to manage Te Whakaruruhau o Ngā Reo Irirangi Māori Incorporated which represents Iwi/Maori radio stations. He is a director of Kākano Whakatipu Ltd, an iwi forestry investment company representing Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust, and a consultant at Pryor & Associates.

Previously Graham was CEO of Mai Media Ltd for 14 years, and Chairman of Mai Music Ltd and Mai Publishing Ltd. He has iwi affiliations with Ngāti Awa & Ngāti Rangitihi.

Mike "MOD" O’Donnell is a professional director, writer and business advisor with a focus on digital, media and consumer issues.

He is director of online global music company Serato, financial services company Kiwibank, destination marketing agency Tourism NZ, software intelligence platform Raygun, online booking company Timely and IP marketing agency G2G Knowhow.

MOD is a weekly business columnist for Fairfax Media and is also involved in motorcycle safety and consumer rights.
