Between 1923 and 1930, Joseph Canteloube arranged five sets of folk songs from the Auvergne region of France.  They're for soprano with orchestra or piano, and are sung in the original Occitan language of the region.

The distinctive melodies are given lush harmonies and rich orchestrations by Canteloube.

Matthew Crawford presents an introduction.
