Bircher Muesli

Ingredients

  • 100 g (3½ oz) rolled oats
  • 250 ml (8 fl oz) milk
  • 125 ml (4 fl oz) plain, unsweetened yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons liquid honey
  • 2 apples
  • extra fresh fruit, such as strawberries, banana, kiwi fruit, blueberries, chopped if large (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons chopped nuts, such as almonds, hazelnuts or macadamia nuts (optional)

Equipment

  • kitchen scales and measures
  • 1 medium bowl
  • 1 teaspoon
  • 1 vegetable peeler
  • 1 vegetable knife
  • 1 grater

Method

  1. Measure the rolled oats into the bowl.
  2. Add the milk and the yogurt to the rolled oats, then mix them together.
  3. Drizzle the honey over the mixture and stir in.
  4. Peel the apples, cut into quarters, cut out the cores, then coarsely grate.
  5. Add the grated apple to the rolled oats mixture. This is the basic muesli recipe.
  6. If you like, stir in the fresh fruits and nuts.
  7. Serve.
