Mint and Kiwifruit Chutney

  • approximately 3.75 kg kiwifruit, skinned and sliced
  • 900 g onions, skinned and sliced
  • 1.4 kg apples, skinned and sliced
  • 1.5 litres vinegar
  • 2.2 kg brown sugar
  • 1 packet mixed spice
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 small teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 3 cups sultanas, added late in boil
  • mint, chopped finely


Boil all together for about an hour. Bottle into warmed jars and seal. A teaspoon of ground ginger added 10 minutes before the end of boiling will bring out the flavour.
