Spiced Syrup Marinade

Fantastic on chicken, fish, pork or tofu. Makes enough for about 20 chicken wings.


  • 1/2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 red chili
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 Tbsp coriander leaves
  • 1/2 cup lemon honey and ginger cordial
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp rice bran oil


Grind together in mortar and pestle coriander seeds, ground pepper, star anise and salt.

Coarsely chop chili, garlic and coriander leaves

Mix lemon honey and ginger cordial, sesame & rice bran oils.

Combine all three and use as marinade or dipping sauce. Nicely spicey...

Note: If you are not a ginger lover, try this recipe with lemon and honey cordial instead. Rice bran oil can be interchanged with any similar cooking oil.
