Semi-final Round I
On 4 June 2009 - 18 Competitors have 25 minutes maximum to impress the judges in the Queenstown Memorial Hall.
Semi-final Round 2
On 5/6 June 2009 - 18 Competitors have another 40 minutes to try and one of the six to make it to the next round.
Semi-final Round 3
8-9 June 2009, the 6 remaining competitors perform at the Auckland Town Hall Concert Chamber. This performance is being broadcast live on Radio New Zealand Concert from 7:30 pm.
Final
11 June 2009 at 7:30pm in Auckland Town Hall Great Hall, 3 Competitors - in collaboration with The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. This final is being broadcast live on Radio New Zealand Concert.

Background

The Michael Hill International Violin Competition aims to promote young violinists from all over the world who are launching their professional solo careers and are aspiring to establish themselves on the world stage; to recognise and encourage excellence and musical artistry, and to expand performance opportunities (including playing New Zealand repertoire).

Coverage

Radio New Zealand Concert will be publishing audio on demand of the performances from the semi-finals and final on this page. Semi-final round III and the final will also be broadcast live on air.
