Splendour Series, Inspired by Bach

Three programmes: (2) Rebecca Ryan (soprano), John Wells (organ ) Graduate Choir, Auckland Philharmonia conducted by Jayce Ogren  

Opening with Bach’s famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor with John Wells on the magnificent Auckland Town Hall organ, this concert promises a journey through Bach’s music and influence with works and arrangements by composers including Beethoven, Elgar, Villa-Lobos and Arvo Pärt, as well as the Great Master himself.  The concert closes with Stokowski’s lush orchestration of the D minor Toccata and Fugue.
