Margaret Ogilvie says being a part-time presenter for Radio New Zealand Concert is the ultimate antidote to full-time motherhood. Margaret grew up in Christchurch in a house full of books and music. So it wasn't a surprise that she majored in English at the University of Canterbury and also in piano performance, studying with Maurice Till.
In 1990, she moved to Wellington to teach at a secondary school, and subsequent pursuits have included performing her own accompaniments to silent films throughout the country as well as in Italy.
Margaret has worn various hats in her decade or more working for Concert - among them, contributing to programmes like The Critic's Chair and Composer of the Week. Her favourite composers are, well, that would be telling....
She can tell you, though, that she's recently developed a passion for gardening, despite advice you need to stake your cabbages in Wellington.
