MOZART: Ave Verum Corpus

During his final year, Mozart wrote this work for Anton Stoll and the Baden parish church choir, to be sung at the celebration of the Feast of Corpus Christi. Mozart had befriended Stoll during his visits to Baden, where his wife often took the spa cure.  Profound and serene, the music's simplicity was tailored for the abilities of a provincial choir.

Orpheus Choir of Wellington, Orchestra Wellington conducted by Marc Taddei.

Recorded 20 August 2016 at the Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington by RNZ Concert.

Producer: David McCaw, Engineer: Graham Kennedy.
