This work was commissioned by the Auckland Philharmonia in 1991, the year in which Eve was the Orchestra’s Composer-in-Residence.

There are three untitled movements with short improvisatory interludes between them.

Suzanne Court of Music in NZ said, "The three clarinets effectively behave as a 'super-clarinet' with an enormous range of five octaves. Set against the other instruments...the result is a vibrant glitter of timbre."

Ellen Deverall, Richard Haynes, Andrew Uren (clarinets), Christchurch Symphony Orchestra conducted by Benjamin Northey.

Recorded 8 July 2016, Air Force Museum, Wigram by RNZ Concert.

Engineer: Darryl Stack
