The Music of Morocco

From New Horizons, 5:00 pm on 15 January 2017

In this programme, William goes to Morocco, spurred on by some fascinating field recordings made by writer and composer Paul Bowles in 1959. These have been kept by The Library of Congress and now released by the Dust to Digital label in a gorgeous box set.

And of course he provides his customary eclectic mix of supplementary music - all Moroccan-inspired - with tracks from Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, Crosby Stills and Nash, Davy Graham, the NZSO, Thomas Hampson, Brian Jones's 'The Pipes of Pan at Jajouka', and The Rolling Stones.
