New Zealand String Quartet tour

The NZSQ begin their Heartland  tour of the country this weekend in Whanganui: 11 centres stretching the length of the country, from Waiheke Island to Invercargill. On the music stand – Gillian Whitehead and Gareth Farr, the work he wrote for the 21st anniversary of sister cities Wellington and Sydney. Listen to him talking about the work here:

Ross Harris is on a roll. Two premieres within a day of each other last week – and a whole heap of works on the boil. Charlotte Wilson talked to him about his Symphony No 6, his new quartet There May Be Light (currently being toured for Chamber Music New Zealand), the secret to his success with librettist Vincent O’Sullivan and the drive behind what inspires him to compose.
