Tony Kushner’s Tony winner Angels in America is considered a classic of American theatre, a two part epic clashing together themes of religion, politics, and sexuality. Kushner went on to pen the Golden Globe winning screenplay for Lincoln in 2012. How did this unwieldy beast get to the stage and reach mass consciousness? Shaun D Wilson spoke to Slate.com’s culture editor Dan Kois who has co-written an oral history of the play.
