Making a museum from the ground up

Doryun Chong is in New Zealand to be part of the judging panel for contemporary art award; the Walters Prize, and was previously Associate Curator of Painting and Sculpture at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

Now Doryun is Deputy Director and Chief Curator of an upcoming Hong Kong Museum called M+. He’s worked for M+ since 2013, but its actual building won’t be ready for exhibits until 2019. Clarissa Dunn asks Doryun: what needs to be done to establish a museum if it doesn’t have a physical space?
