Elbio Barilari presents concert music from Latin America, Spain and Portugal

    Five programmes

    (5) Two Latin-American Concerti

This week, from two very different worlds, a Mexican Violin Concerto and a Brazilian Oboe Concerto, created 20 years apart. The violin concerto was the last major work of noted composer Manuel Ponce, written for and dedicated to violinist Henryk Szeryng. Our programme features the last recording made by Mr Szeryng. Brenno Blauth, a Brazilian composer from the banks of the Amazon, wrote this beautiful oboe concerto, one of the mainstays of the concert oboist's literature. Arcadio Minczuk performs with the Orchestra of Sao Paulo under the baton of his brother, Roberto Minczuk (WFMT)
