Presented by Ken Taylor and John Perry of Stanford University

Six programmes

(3) The Right to Privacy

Is the right to privacy - the right to be left alone and to control one's personal information - really a right? Is privacy just a privilege that can be revoked any time it conflicts with other more important needs, like the need to protect our security? Who has the right to infringe upon our privacy and for what particular purposes? How much public surveillance do we really need to stay safe and does that count as an infringement on our privacy? How does our use of social media undermine our claims to privacy? John and Ken talk openly with George Washington University law professor Jeffrey Rosen, author of Constitution 3.0: Freedom and Technological Change (Ben Manilla Productions)

(4) Dawn of Midi

New York-based acoustic trio Dawn of Midi bring a sound that's "totally unprecedented" (Pitchfork). Their sophomore album Dysnomia was listed among the Best Albums of 2013 in The New Yorker, NPR and BBC3. As red-blooded and rhythmic as a seamlessly mixed DJ set, Dysnomia is performed in its entirety, in this extraordinary live show.

Dawn of Midi's bassist Aakaash Israni, pianist Amino Belyamani and percussionist Qasim Naqvi first met while studying at Cal Arts (California Institute of the Arts). Thanks to the fact that they were friends first - playing late-night tennis matches in dimly lit parking lots well before they stepped into a studio or rehearsal space - they have followed their own logic from day one. Belyamani admits it's taken some time to shift from early improv sessions to the well-oiled machine that makes for both a dizzying dance sound and a deeply immersive living room listen (recorded in the Wellington Opera House by RNZ)
