Solomons police complete investigations into alleged trust fund scam

9:15 am on 20 January 2003

The Solomon Islands Criminal Investigation Department has completed its investigations into the Charity Trust Fund and the file will be returned to the Director of Public Prosecutions this week for the case to proceed.

The Director of the CID, Jackson Ofu, says the delay in dealing with the case was caused by the need to gather information about the fund from overseas.

Thousands of Solomon Islanders paid just over thirty US dollars for shares in the fund after being promised a return of more than 158 thousand dollars.

It has been almost a year since then and none have received a dividend.
