Four Fiji police have appeared in court charged with robbery.
Fiji TV says the four are alleged to have taken three Chinese nationals to a cemetery near Suva and threatened them to extort money.
The three regular officers and a special constable robbed the men of more than one thousand dollars in local and US currency.
The two Chinese tourists and a Chinese ship engineer have asked for an early hearing because they want to leave the country.
Police sources are quoted as saying the four officers have been committing such offences for some time.
This is only the latest of a long series of offences for which police officers have been charges including murder, assault and abuse of office.
