Court documents on a Chinese national known as the Mafia Queen of Fiji have gone missing.

Fiji TV says most of the documents are police files.

It says the revelations from a court source came as a special tribunal met behind closed doors in Suva yesterday to decide on a date for hearing a citizenship application by the woman.

The government appoited the tribunal to consider the application after authorities were unable to enforce a deportation order against her by a previous minister for home affairs, Ratu Talemo Ratakele.

The TV station says the missing files have vital information about the Mafia Queen whom previous media reports have linked to money laundering, drug trafficking, people smuggling and prostitution rackets.

The former head of criminal investigations, Emosi Vunisa, says the files have not been reported missing.
