The most isolated people in the Cook Islands, those living on the island of Nassau, are to have a telephone service for the first time.

The head of Telecom Cook Islands, Stuart Davies, says a satellite dish will be set up for the 69 people living on the island before the year is out.

Just over a square kilometre in size, with just one concrete house, Nassau has difficulties because of a lack of shipping to bring in supplies.
