The University of the South Pacific says it sees a role for itself in the promotion of good governance in the region.

The vice chancellor the USP, Savenaca Siwatibau, says the tackling of corruption and the promotion of good governance are now more important than they have ever been.

The University has published a booklet called Good Governance in the Pacific, based on lectures Mr Siwatibau gave last year.

He says the booklet is one of several initiatives by the USP to promote good governance.

"We have now established a post graduate diploma in good governance and we are going to hold you know seminars and workshops for senior officials, for civil societies and for political leaders over the coming year. We think that the University could be helpful to our country in undertaking these activities"

Savenava Siwatibau, who says as many people as possible should read the booklet.
