American governor to attend Tonga celebrations

The American Samoa governor has announced that he will be attending celebrations in Tonga, which mark three milestones in the island kingdom's history.

The governor's spokesman, Leiataua Alailima says Tauese has accepted an invitation from Tonga's royal family to attend King Taufa'ahau Tupou's birthday.

The celebrations will also include the 55th wedding anniversary of the Royal Couple and the Royal couple's 35th coronation anniversary.

Alailima says Tinga's royal family have attended several ceremonies in American Samoa and its only appropriate that Tauese travel to Tonga.

The celebrations start in the first week of July.
