Former Fiji judge gets his job back

3:50 pm on 1 July 2002

A Fiji High Court judge who resigned after his arrest by the security forces during the 1987 coups has been re-appointed to the bench.

Justice Kishore Govind has since resided in Australia.

Radio Fiji reported that he is expected to resume office soon after a period of 14 years out of it.

Justice Govind's appointment is expected to ease the workload currently experienced by the judiciary, which is short of judges.
