Three still missing after army chopper crash in Papua

The Indonesian military has confirmed that two people survived and three are missing after an army helicopter crashed on a mountainside in the central highlands of Papua province on Saturday.

Military spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Catur, says the pilot and co-pilot, managed to reach a nearby village on foot and have been taken to an army hospital in Jakarta.

He says the whereabouts of the other three men is still unknown and that teams have been sent to the scene.

The helicopter disappeared shortly after taking off from Timika en route to Enarotali which is a half hour's flight.

It had crashed in bad weather some 20 km from Enarotali.
