Death toll from Typhoon Chata'an reaches 39

Latest reports from the island of Chuuk in the Federated States of Micronesia say

39 people are now confirmed dead with at least 100 injured and others still missing after typhoon Chata'an swept across the island.

The storm also caused considerable damage in Guam which was hit by winds gusting at almost 200 kph.

Trees were uprooted, power lines brought down, heavy rain caused damage to many tourist hotels on the island and the island's international airport also suffered damage amounting to several million dollars.u.

However there were no deaths reported and only a few injuries.
