Cook Islands clerk of parliament to meet with prime minister

10:41 am on 11 July 2002

The clerk of the Cook Islands parliament, Nga Valoa, is to meet the prime minister and the leader of the house this week to discuss the next sitting of parliament.

Nga Valoa says the discussion with PM, Dr Robert Woonton and Tupou Faireka will centre on the resumption of parliament on the 29th July to present the budget.

Sources also say that questions will be raised about when a new session of parliament is likely to begin.

Parliament was adjourned early in May and has met for just 21 days in the past 18 months.
