Tuna from American Samoa held up at Los Angeles for bio terrorism inspection

About 20 million US dollars worth of canned tuna from American Samoa has been held at the Port of Los Angeles as part of a bio terrorism inspection.

American Samoa's congressional delegate, Faleomavaega En Hunan, said the shipment of more than 600 thousand cases of tuna was held by the US Food and Drug Administration for three weeks.

He said the FDA continues to have concerns about America's food supply.

The Congressman said because many foreign vessels off load their fish in American Samoa ports, the local canneries may continue to have their containers held from time to time for further bio-terrorism inspections.
