Solomon Islands supports US regional military presence to fight terrorism

The prime minister of Solomon Islands, Sir Allan Kemakeza, says his governmen will not hesitate to support the US if it plans to deploy forces in the Pacific to fight terrorism.

"he says the deployment of forces in the region is vital to regional security. Sir Allen says his government is aware of his countries important political location and appreciates United States efforts to combat terror particular in the pacific rim and beyond. Sir Allen was speaking in Honiara yesterday as Solomon Islands marked the 60th anniversary of the battle of Guadalcanal which was attended by a number of American world war two veterans who fought in Solomon Islands between 1942 and 1945"
