Samoa Observer appoints new editor

The Samoa Observer has hired a former diplomat and politician, Afamasaga Toleafoa, as its new editor.

Afamasaga, who had been a columnist, will be the editor of the weekday edition while Savea Sano Malifa will become the editor-in-chief and assumed responsibility of the weekend edition.

Savea's wife, Jean, has been named the publisher of the paper, which is Samoa's biggest, and retain control of finance and advertising.

Afamasaga was a Samoan diplomat in New Zealand and Brussels and also a member of parliament for one term.
