The manager of a top resort in Samoa says it has been closed to the public because it has been hired out to a group of affluent foreign artists.

Folasaitu Joe Annadale has made the disclosure amid speculation that the Sinalei Resort could be used by terrorists.

Folasaitu says the guests are not Muslims, nudists or terrorists but artists wishing to be in a quiet and safe place.

He says the 30-strong group of Europeans and Americans has leased the resort for six months and may then extend their stay.
