Police in Solomon Islands say they cannot rule out foul play in the disappearance of eight people who went missing while on a motorized canoe trip to Auki on Malaita.
The craft, which had been travelling from Honiara, went missing a week ago.
It was found close to the shore of the Florida Islands which are about half way between the capital and Malaita.
But there has been no sign of the passengers.
Police officials say damage to the canoe indicates it may have capsized but they cannot rule out foul play because the man operating the vessel had complained that he had been shot at on previous trips.
