Palau has become the latest Pacific Island nation to establish diplomatic ties with East timor, the world's newest independent country.
A Palau government spokesman said agreement on the recognition was reached during the recent Pacific Islands Forum meeting in Suva.
He says the two countries are to hold discussions on areas of cooperation which would include fisheries and employment issues.
