A court in French Polynesia has sentenced a 38 year woman, Angelina Aka, to 30 years in jail for torturing her child to death.
The news agency, AFP, said the jury passed the sentence after the prosecution demanded a life term for the woman's cruelty and barbarity in dealing with her three year old son.
The child's father was given a four year jail sentence, of which three years was suspended, for failing to help the child and for failing to report the abuse.
Aka had already been given a 19 year jail sentence for abusing two children in her care who are now handicapped
