A complaint has been filed in the High Court of American Samoa over moves to ban the issuing of entry permits to people of Middle Eastern descent.

The move was introduced as part of a security alert last month.

The individual who has lodged the complaint, Michael Homsany, says the security measure is racially based descrimination and a violation of both the United States and American Samoan constitutions.

He says the security alert itself is in conflict with local immigration statutes
