The French Polynesian public prosecutor says no body and no incriminating evidence have been found in the catamaran of a missing former US top basketball player.

This was disclosed after the vessel was examined by local police in Tahiti and US agents probing the disappearance of Brian Williams, also known as Bison Dele, and two others.

The prosecutor also says forensic tests are yet to be completed.

An international arrest warrant has been issued for Williams' brother, Kevin, who is accused of using his missing brother's credit cards and passport.

Kevin Williams is said to be hiding in Mexico.

The catamaran was to sail via the Marquesas to Hawaii.
