Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare, has officially written to his Solomon Island counter part, Sir Allan Kemakeza, offering assistance to reinstate law and order in the Solomons.

Sir Allan asked Sir Michael to help with soliders and police during discussions at the recent Pacific Island Forum meeting in Suva in Fiji.

Sir Michael had requested Sir Allan to officially ask for assistance through a letter, but the Solomon's Prime Minister did not respond.

Sir Allan returns to Honiara shortly after attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
