The Vanuatu prime minister, Edward Natapei, is scheduled to hold a media conference this morning to speak about HIV.
This comes amid calls for a law to be passed to make checks for HIV compulsory.
The proposal was mooted by the director-general in the prime minister's office, Jean Sese.
This comes amid speculation that a patient at the Vila central hospital is an HIV carrier.
Vanuatu has had the status of being HIV/AIDS-free.
