An American Samoa village has banned the establishment of foreign-owned and operated businesses in its boundaries.

The Leone Village Council said through a statement on local television that they had decided to prohibit foreign businesses on its land.

A spokesman for the Village Council says the policy is a result of the murder of four Chinese nationals in two separate incidents in the viallge of Atu'u.

Atu'u has also had a rise in the number of crimes recently committed in the village.
