Catholic church in Samoa seeks more money from parishoners

Members of Samoa's Roman Catholic Church says more donations are needed to stop the sale of church assets such as land.

The call for more giving by parishoners follows news that the Catholic Church sold off prime land in Apia to help pay off a bank loan taken out for the construction of a Catholic centre at Leauva'a.

The three acre parcel of land was sold for just over 5 million dollars.

The Catholic Church is the biggest owner of freehold land in the country.
