American Samoa congressional candidate urges more medical spending

A candidate for American Samoa's congressional seat, Aumua Amata Coleman says there is a dire need for increased medical spending in the Territory.

Aumua kicked off her campaign to unseat Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin at the weekend saying people are dying at the government run hospital because of a lack of equipment and medicine.

She says she learned of these shortages first hand when working as a volunteer at the hospital.

"It just breaks my heart to see our people dying, because we do not have sufficient equipment and medicine. We need increased funding so that we can improve the situation there"
