Solomons prime minister dismisses failed state label

The Solomon Islands prime minister says those who regard his country as a failed state should change their attitude.

Speaking at a function to mark Taiwan's national day in Honiara, Sir Allan Kemakeza expressed gratitude for its assistance to the Solomons.

But in an apparent reference to Austrralia, the World Bank and the IMF, he said some global institutions and other countries continue to impose almost impossible conditions on least developed states, like Solomon Islands.
