Solomon Islands students studying at the University of the South Pacific in Suva may not be allowed back next year if their government does not pay the 3-point-1 million US dollars it owes the USP.

The Fiji Sun reports this could mean that the students might miss out ons itting exams and graduating, and new students may not be accepted next year.

It quotes Jude Devesi of the Solomon Islands Students Association as saying that they have become victims of a situation that could have been avoided by their own government.

Of the 250 Solomon students at the USP, 211 are on scholarships provided by their government.
