Concern is rising in Fiji over the number of deaths reported on overseas fishing boats based in the country.

In the latest case, a fishing boat, the Fu Yuan No 20, arrived in Suva yesterday carrying the body of a Korean crew member.

Police say they will investigate a report from the vessel that the man was electrocuted while using an electrical tool on the deck when the boat was hit by a huge wave.

In another incident, a Banaban crew member from Fiji was reported missing from a Suva-based vessel while it was fishing in Vanuatu waters last Thursday.

The vessel is due to arrive in Suva tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Fiji police are still investigating the death of the captain of a Suva based Taiwanese vessel while it was on the high seas near Tahiti last month.

Police are questioning all 27 crew members
