Over 1500 students at the University of the South Pacific will stage a protest on Monday to petition against a fee increase next year.

The Daily post reports that the university plans to intoduce a differential fee increase for courses in high demand.

Fees for computer science will go up by 35 per cent, accounting by 30 per cent, economics by 25 per cent, administration by 20 per cent and law by 15 per cent.

About 100 courses will be affected by the announcement.

The USP Students Association says the proposed increases are irrational and unacceptable to the student body.
