The governor of the Papua New Guinea island of Bougainville, John Momis, says an inquiry will be launched into a compensation payment of more than 275 thousand US dollars to ex-combatants.
The Governor's comments come after ex-resistance force commanders claimed that the money was not properly accounted for and that many of their members did not receive their share.
The Bougainville Administrator, Simon Pentanu, says the claims exceeded the compensation amount.
Earlier this week, disgruntled ex-combatants broke into two weapons containers in South Bougainville while a resistance commander threatened to blow up a bridge.
The Resistance members claim that foul play was involved in handling the 275 thousand dollars and that not all claims were settled properly and conclusively.
