Fiji TV wants monoploy

11:19 am on 15 November 2002

Fiji Television Limited has asked the Great Council of Chiefs to endorse its application to have its monopoly status extended for another 10 years.

The request was made after the company presented a dividend cheque for more than 120-thousand US dollars during the chiefs' meeting yesterday.

The money represents earnings on Fiji Television shares held by Yasana Holdings Limited on behalf of Fiji's 14 indigenous provinces.

Fiji TV's chief executive, Ken Clark, says he believes there was a very positive response from the chiefs.
