Papua New Guinea says it is considering selling some of its oil assets to raise cash in the wake of Australia's decision to turn down its bid for more aid.
PNG Energy Minister Sir Moi Avei said the assets for consideration included the government's share in the country's largest oil company, Oil Search Ltd.
Sir Moi told a news conference the country would have to look seriously at selling some of its valuable assets unless Australia kicked in with more aid.
In September, the operator of the proposed PNG to Queensland gas pipeline warned the months leading up to Christmas were critical if the project was to attract and keep long-term customers.
Oil Search Ltd is the major gas supplier for the PNG contract.
