The FBI is conducting an investigation into the Government owned American Samoa Power Authority.

The chairman of the ASPA board of directors, Morris Scanlan, has confirms the enquiry but has declined to comment on what is being investigated.

Sources say the investigation centres around a local contractor who was allegedly paid twice for work done.

They say he received around a million US dollars.

The FBI spokesperson, Pamela McCullogh, says her organisation does not comment on its investigations.
