Samoa's Minister of Finance says financial officers have a duty to maintain transparency

Samoa's Minister of Finance, Misa Telefoni, says heads of government corporations may find themselves by-passed if officials have concerns over financial transparency.

Misa said legislation passed last year allows the Controller and Chief Auditor to audit the accounts of all government corporations.

He said under this legislation financial officers have the right to report directly to the Chief Auditor if they are unhappy with the way things are being dealt with within their corporation.
