Solomon Islands Police have arrested the younger brother of the Guadalcanal warlord Harold Keke.

Sources say Joseph Sangu was arrested in Honiara in connection with several shooting incidents, on the Guadalcanal Plain, at North Guadalcanal and at Kakabona on the island's northwest.

There have been several fatal shootings in those areas in recent months.

Mr Sangu recently moved to Kakabona after living at north Guadalcanal.

He is being held in Honiara's Rove prison.

Meanwhile police are continuing to search the scene of an attack on the Prime Minister's special advisor Robert Goh who was shot in the abdomen last week on the Weather Coast.

Harold Keke has been blamed for that attack.
